FINAL CONCLUDES SUCCESSFUL BARWA BANK SQUASH CHALLENGER 2012
Barwa Bank, Qatar's fastest growing Shari’ah compliant banking service provider, joined with players from the Barwa Bank Squash Challenger 2012 at an awards ceremony yesterday, at the close of the three day tournament exclusively sponsored by the bank in association with the Qatar Squash Federation (QSF).
Steve Troop, CEO, Barwa Bank presented Kristian Olesen from Denmark with the first place trophy, following Olesen’s victory over fellow finalist, Bader Al Hussaini from Kuwait, on centre court at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. Also attending for the presentation was Mr. Khalid Al Ahbabi, Head of Corporate Banking, Barwa Bank and Mohammed Saleh Al Khulaifi Board Member from the Qatar Squash Federation.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Troop said, “I would like to congratulate all the participants, the quality of squash played throughout this tournament has been very high indeed. Last year Barwa Bank sponsored a local squash tournament and we were delighted to be able to take our support to a different level, in providing young and amateur players the opportunity to watch more than 16 professionals from around the world compete. We will continue to build on this initiative as it is part of our wider effort to serve, encourage and assist future generations.”
Qatar Squash Federation Board Member, Mr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Khulaifi added, “We are very grateful to Barwa Bank for their generous support and we sincerely hope that we work together in future events that help our national players to compete with world class players.”
